A report from the latest Northern Mansi field trip

In this talk, we will discuss the latest Northern Mansi field trip that took place in March-April 2024. Most of the work was carried out in the city of Khanty-Mansijsk, but some parts involved working in the town of Ivdel and the village Beryozovo. The main results of the field trip include various plans for further interactions with the Mansi community, e.g. on the project of a Mansi online translator and a planned summer school of language immersion in Beryozovo in August 2024. Apart from that, a study of the state of the Mansi language in Beryozovo and Khanty-Mansijsk was carried out, including assessing personal language competence of various members of the community, as well as investigating the presence of the language in the media and education of all levels.
